With recent events happening both in our area and the nation I wanted to share some very positive light in this darkness. Last night I received a message from one of our residents, who is also a grandma. She wanted to share praise with me about our West Concord Police Department. With permission I share her message slightly redacted to conceal the identity of her grandson.
“Our police department is amazing. I called David’s (Officer David Myrom) cell number, not knowing if he was on duty or not, because my grandson was afraid to go to school tomorrow due to the recent school threats. David assured me the threat has been diffused and indulged us by making a personalized video for my grandson. We live in an amazing place! My grandson doesn’t care where someone is from. He just needs to know what every child in our own community needs—to know to run To our officers, not FROM them. To know that they’ve got their back.”
This is exactly the story that needs to be shared in the current turmoil. This is not about politics, who to blame, what side you are on. This is the basic human need to feel safe and comforted. They haven’t asked for this recognition but are very deserving of it. I share this video below as a very proud Mayor of our community! This is something the world needs now more than at any other time.
