Triton has been presenting fall plays, one-act plays, and musicals for many years. For musicals, we have performed a wide variety, ranging from Once Upon a Mattress to The Wizard of Oz. Triton recently wrapped up their one-act season. This year they presented Soundscapes, and the cast and crew were thrilled to showcase it to their community on Thursday, January 29.
Soundscapes was a play about a girl named Iris who possesses a unique talent known as synesthesia. For Iris, sound is something she sees as well as something she hears. Soundscapes is a creative and emotional play because of this distinct viewpoint, which enables the listener to experience sound and emotion in a whole new way. When asked what made her choose this play, Director Mrs. Kleinwort shared, “I liked that there was a message about people accepting who they are. I also thought the symbol of the colors was very impactful.”
In other theatrical news, the musical this year at Triton is The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This musical is about a quirky group of middle school kids competing to win their county’s spelling bee. When asked about how she feels about the musical, Director Anne Wotherspoon stated, ¨I feel that this musical is a great way to show our talent. It is a very funny musical, and I love how it uses the audience to help improve the show.” This will be Triton's 35th musical, and Director Wotherspoon related, ¨I really enjoy carrying on the tradition of excellence that happens at Triton."
Triton has put on several musicals and one act; however, it seems that Triton will be putting on many more amazing shows for the community to watch.
