Triton Grads: Where are they now?

Posted

Once the senior class graduates, I always wonder where they end up and what they’re doing these days. This school year I’d like to showcase some of our awesome Triton alums!

Student: Carolina Olveda

Graduation Year: 2022

Current City: Rochester, MN

When Carolina thinks of her time at Triton High School, she remembers all the pep rallies as her favorite times because they were so interactive and fun. Academically, her favorite teacher was Mr. Boe because “he was the kindest and sweetest soul.” She says he knew how to make class fun, had a great sense of humor, explained assignments well, and had so much passion for what he taught. In addition to Mr. Boe, Carolina said the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) classes, taught by Ms. Breer, were her favorites. Carolina took Basic and Advanced Foods and Child Development 1 and 2 during her time at Triton High School. She remembers these classes as her favorites because they were interactive classes, and she created a lot of good memories. “The cooking was my favorite part and just learning new ways to cook and try new foods,” she says.

Nowadays Carolina is a business assistant at Northwest Dental Group. A lot of what she is doing at her job requires computer skills, communication skills, basic math and many skills she learned at Triton. She also shares that personal finance and English classes (writing emails and texts using proper grammar, etc.) helped her to be ready for day-to-day activities in her adult life. Carolina’s words of wisdom for the current Triton High School students are to enjoy every experience you have in high school and to do what you want (without getting into trouble, of course). She shares that at times she still wishes she could go back and enjoy it. She shares some very wise advice, “Growing up comes fast and it isn’t necessarily scary, but at times it will be. … Don't get too stuck on the bad things, because if you look back at it from 4 or 5 years ahead, you're going to think ‘why was I even worried or so hung up about it?’” Truer words have never been spoken.
