It's summertime which means it's melodrama time at the Mantorville Opera House! The first melodrama is Peril at Pumpernickle Pass by Tim Kelly, directed by Beth Regener.

About the show: Waldo Weasel, that cobra in human form, shows up in Pumpernickle Pass with a phony gold map. He talks lovely Buttercup O’Shay into staking him. Alas, the gold strike doesn’t pan out. But no matter! Waldo discovers Buttercup has a paper proving that her ancestor, the first governor of California, lent the new state a small fortune. The sum is so great that it can’t be paid back, so the heir will own California! Since Buttercup will refuse his oily offer of marriage, Waldo plots to get rid of her and marry the next heir in line, Stella Dimdome. By the time the villain is defeated, all manner of hilarity has broken out!

Waldo Weasel is played by Kcin Siegele. Buttercup O’Shay is played by Em Mercer and her cousin, Stella Dimdome, is portrayed by Savannah Potter. Buttercup's friends include Pearl Ruby Diamond played by Rebecca Bromelkamp, Minnie portrayed by Cheryl Frarck, Widow Begley personated by Madysen Nelson, and Mattiwalda Cribbs played by Meredith Tuntland. The Sheriff is portrayed by Ilyas Ali and Scott Regener plays the barber Snipper Bayrhum. Town visitors include Gentleman Dan played by Kaiden Beliveau, Buffalo Binnie portrayed by Catherine Williamson, and Annie Oatmeal personated by Grace Reed. The show will come alive with the help of our pianist Kristie Moody and stage manager Nathan Elias.
